Remember we are joining Osborne Park at Kailis on Tuesday for the presentation of the Jack Bercov Award for the top medical student at UWA. If you haven't registered yet, please do so asap so we can make sure you are catered for.
On 13 May, we are joining Cambridge to hear a presentation by Dr Rhys Clark, an orthopaedic surgeon speak. Make sure you register so we can advise Cambridge of numbers.
I'm off cruising for the next 2 weeks so I won't see you until the meeting on 19 May where we'll be trialling our potential new venue. We are also holding a club forum so please make sure you are there.

27 April - After their early morning hike to see the sunrise, it was on to the Rio Tinto mine in Tom Price where students went on a tour to see how iron ore is mined. BIG…. everything!
Some local bird life visited the camp kitchen as well!
30 April - What a day our students had yesterday! Half of them went on the whale sharks tour and the others did the sailing trip (it will be reversed today). They swam with whale sharks, saw large turtles, dolphins, colourful fish and sting rays too. Bet they slept well last night!
1 May - This morning the Safari said a fond farewell to Coral Bay where many memories were made, and headed south towards Carnarvon. En route there was time for a geography lesson when they crossed the Tropic of Capricorn!

Our Safari was welcomed to Monkey Mia by the local wildlife today! Emus were everywhere as were the pelicans!
Monkey Mia is where wild dolphins come in close to shore several times a day. Some lucky students may even get chosen to feed one or two. These curious and friendly creatures come in of their own accord to see the visitors and rangers are on hand to ensure their safety. Only a few fish are fed to the dolphins to ensure they don’t rely on this as their food source. Watch this space for photos!

Our Rotary Community Group has agreed on this as a joint project, and we should have our first planting getting underway shortly at the showgrounds.

It's appropriate that at Tuesday's meeting we are presenting the Jack Bercov Award to Wan Zhi, who may not be as young as others we support through Youth Service.
The club continues to support students from Balga Senior High School in various youth programs and the students from Team Luminescent have returned from the STEM Racing National Finals in Melbourne and will be presenting to us on 9 June.

Our friends from Swim Vietnam have advised Stirling Players Musical Charity Evening production of “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” at Stirling Theatre, Innaloo on 5 May.
All proceeds from the evening will be donated to Swim Vietnam to support the charity in delivering free survival swimming lessons to children and help prevent the awful loss of life from drowning in Vietnam.
