There is no town in Western Australia which has a richer history and heritage than Fremantle. Established in 1829 it was where the first colonists to what was then called Swan River Colony first landed. However, the history of Fremantle cannot be told in isolation so any story about Fremantle is also a story about Western Australia and if storekeeping was the first occupation to be followed in the new colony, then hotel keeping was the next.

 

I'm disappointed I'll miss hearing what Allen has to say. Jane and I are sailing for New Zealand tomorrow and will be back in Perth on 18 December. As Jane and I are away for the next 2 weeks, you may or may not receive a newsletter for that time.

Thank you, Carolyn and Pres David for hosting the club's Christmas party on 2 December. It was a perfect summer's evening for enjoying good company, good food and a few celebratory drinks.

 

The car cleaning set was the most sort after gift in the Kris Kringle this year with Michael, I think, running out as the victor. I'm not sure what Jin thought about the gift giving and stealing.

After the discussion at the club's AGM, have a read of another article from the September/October edition of Rotary Down Under. The RC of Scarborough has turned vision into action achieving outstanding membership growth. I'm hoping to have Darren come and talk to members before our club forum early next year.
