We have an exciting week ahead with a number of members visiting the Miyawaki Forest/Bush classroom in Padbury. We'll have the opportunity of seeing a recently establish mini forest and some information which will assist our Rotary community group to establish similar mini forests.

There is a large oval behind Statewide Services (previously Padbury Senior High school) and a car park to the east of this. The entrance to the carpark is off McGregor Drive. At 4pm parking should be available in that carpark.
The Statewide Services forest/bush classroom is located next to the main buildings on site - located on the south side of the oval - adjacent to the carpark area.
We will meet on the building side of the forest where the main forest entrance is located.

Foodbank Collection Day

At our meeting on 21 September, we discussed our upcoming Foodbank Collection Day for Foodbank at Floreat Forum. Harry met with the shopping centre management last week and was able to secure 22 November as our day. Our planned date of 15 November was unavailable so hopefully everyone can make it on the new date.
Planning is well underway with banners and flyers being ordered. We want members decked out in their club gear, so if you need a t-shirt and/or cap, let Judy know.
We need each member to commit to at least one 2-hour slot so I've set up a roster on the website. Go into the event and click the Foodbank Food Drive link and make a commitment now. Let's aim for collecting at least 1 tonne of food on the day to continue our club's contribution to Foodbank.

Renee Kennedy, an acclaimed film and television producer is our Guest Speaker. Renee is currently producing a feature film adaptation of the celebrated novel "The Golden Age", by Joan London. The Golden Age is set in a 1950s Perth children's convalescent home during the polio epidemic. Her talk will connect the poignant story of this compelling post-war narrative to Rotary's ongoing mission.
Rotarians are able to make an on-line donation towards the End Polio Now Campaign at the time of booking or purchase a raffle ticket on the night. All funds raised will be linked back to your club when forwarded to Rotary International.
