We've sold 45 tickets in the Thermomix raffle so get out there and promote it to your friends. Thanks to those who have already purchased tickets. A number of people have bought 10 tickets each, a great contribution to the club.

Our Western Endeavour team did another great job at Foodbank on Tuesday 7 October with Jane and Judy assisting in the kitchen Preparing lasagne, cooking orange cakes, washing dishes and the rest of the team sorting fruit and vegetables.
Thanks to David, Lindley, Donna, Marcus, David, Mary and Laurie for their hard work. Between them, they sorted 2m3 avocados, 2m3 of carrots and finally 2m3 of tomatoes.
Time for a well-earned rest.

Breathing Life into Boodja
Scaling Up the Black Cockatoo Forest

Event description
Gondwana Link is landscape scale project which is restoring biodiversity and carbon to a huge corridor between Margaret River through to the Great Western Woodlands around Kalgoorlie. In recognition of Gondwana Link’s global significance, it has been named as one of the ‘Founding 50’ projects for the United Nations Decade of Ecosystem Restoration (2021- 2030). Transition Town Vincent (TTV) and its project partners is just setting out on its own landscape restoration project called the Black Cockatoo Forest which seeks to restore biodiversity and carbon to the inner city of Perth and we thought who better to talk to than the CEO and founder of Gondwana Link, Keith Bradby OAM.
So, on Monday 13th October join us as we start our conversation with Keith to learn what we need to do to scale up the Black Cockatoo Forest. This will commence with an onsite tour and discussion with Keith at our Black Cockatoo pocket forest site at 5pm. Then at 6.30pm at the adjacent Floreat Athena clubrooms we will view a documentary about Gondwana Link called Breathing Life into Boodja. This will then be followed with a panel discussion featuring Keith, and a number of our project collaborators: Dr Grey Coupland (Murdoch University/Pocket Forests WA), Catriona Ferrie (Rotary), Steve McCabe (Rewild Perth) and Cr Alex Castle (Deputy Mayor, City of Vincent).

Renee Kennedy, an acclaimed film and television producer is our Guest Speaker. Renee is currently producing a feature film adaptation of the celebrated novel "The Golden Age", by Joan London. The Golden Age is set in a 1950s Perth children's convalescent home during the polio epidemic. Her talk will connect the poignant story of this compelling post-war narrative to Rotary's ongoing mission.
Rotarians are able to make an on-line donation towards the End Polio Now Campaign at the time of booking or purchase a raffle ticket on the night. All funds raised will be linked back to your club when forwarded to Rotary International.
