Jin is keen to visit Busselton and Bunbury so if anyone has a weekend or a couple of days they could take her, it would be appreciated. Her time with us is running out....she thinks her leaving date is 13 July.

FOODBANK PACKING DAY
A busy day for members and friends sorting potatoes and apples and then helping sort a variety of frozen items by best by dates. We had very cold fingers by the time we finished as a majority of the items we handled were frozen. I'm pleased I remembered to tell people to bring a jacket in case David asked us to work in the cooler.
Jin, our exchange student, had an unforgettable experience. She was getting very excited about the number of chocolates and icecream we were handling. They are both on her list of favourites.
It was great to have former member Irene Rowson and Kim, one of my gym buddies join us. Darlene, a recent speaker had also signed up to join us however was unable to make it due to the change of day. Thanks to Jin, Irene and Kim for their help. Without them being there, we would have been very short on numbers.

JIN UPDATE
Jin's off school from 25 May to 5 June so she caught up to some friends in Kings Park, helped at Foodbank, went to the rugby with David and is busy being a teenager.
Thanks to Marcus, Jane and I are taking her to Esperance on Tuesday 2nd returning on Friday so we won't see you at Tuesday's meeting. We are catching the bus down and back, staying with the RC Esperance president and one of the club's members is showing us the sights. The power of Rotary friendship; isn't it wonderful? It looks like the weather may not be the best however there's not much we can do about that.

Join us for an insightful evening as Steve McCabe, Program Manager at ReWild Perth discusses Banksia woodlands - one of Western Australia’s most iconic ecosystems.
ReWilding unites Steve's passion for biodiversity, practical experience in habitat restoration, and commitment to empowering everyday people to take meaningful environmental action in their own gardens and communities.
This presentation will introduce what defines a banksia woodland, where these communities occur today, and why their distribution has changed over time. It will explore the key threats facing banksia woodlands, including urban development, fragmentation, altered fire regimes, and invasive species. Attendees will then gain practical insights into how everyday gardening choices like plant selection, water use, and habitat creation can contribute to the protection and recovery of banksia woodlands across the Perth region.
Every participant will receive a local native seedling to take home.

The club continues to support students from Balga Senior High School in various youth programs and the students from Team Luminescent have returned from the STEM Racing National Finals in Melbourne and will be presenting to us on 9 June.
